On Dec. 14, 2023, Supervisors Brian Dunn and Raj Kumbhardare helped welcome the new Wawa at the corner of Ship Rd. and East Lincoln Hwy. at the store's official opening ceremony. Only a few weeks ago, traffic began using the new Ship Rd. couplet, which diverges from Ship Rd immediately to the west of the Wawa. Supervisors Kumbhardare and Dunn addressed the public at the opening, describing the extra care that was taken in these development projects, in consideration of historical buildings like St. Mary's chapel and VK Brewing (previously Ship Inn).
In addition to a visit from the official Wawa mascot, Wally Goose, opening festivities included the Hoagies for Heroes hoagie making contest, in which the West Whiteland Fire Company beat out the West Whiteland Township Police Department. Read more about the contest on the fire company's page.
