With freezing temperatures impacting our community, several homes and businesses throughout the Township have already experienced burst pipes and flooding.
To help prevent damage, residents, businesses, HOAs, and property managers are encouraged to take the following precautions:
• Let faucets drip slowly, especially if pipes are located in exterior walls
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
• Set thermostats to maintain a consistent temperature, even overnight
• Insulate exposed pipes in basements, crawl spaces, garages, and utility rooms
• Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses and shut off exterior water valves if possible
• Know where your main water shutoff valve is located in case of emergency
• Check vacant properties regularly for signs of freezing or leaks
Taking these steps can help protect our homes and businesses from costly damage and unnecessary disruptions. Please stay safe and warm.
