Holiday light strands don't belong in your curbside recycling bin, but you don't have to throw them away either. We have set up a collection area for these lights so that they can be properly recycled. Bins are in the vestibule of the Township building facing Commerce Drive. As the bins fill up, staff will deliver the lights to Harris Metals in Coatesville.
Here are some other waste disposal best practices to keep in mind around the holidays:
- Minimize shipping orders; consolidate items when ordering or shop local.
- Consider reusable gift packaging like gift bags.
- Check your wrapping paper before you buy. Can it be recycled?
- Regular and glossy wrapping paper is recyclable unless it has non-paper additives like metallic flakes, colored shapes, glitter and plastics.
- Be mindful of food waste and make efforts to reduce it.
- Donate lightly used/unused Christmas decorations to re-use stores.
