The last few weeks have been difficult and frustrating for trash and recycling collection. The Township appreciates everyone who has reached out regarding your particular household; we are aware that there have been widespread collection issues, and we share your frustration. We know that you are having difficulties contacting Blosenski, have spent large amounts of time on hold and have sent numerous messages with no responses. And we know that some of you still have trash and recycling that has not been collected for two weeks or more.
As of Wednesday morning, Bloskenski has notified the Township that they have trucks out on Wednesday and plan on collecting any remaining trash, recycling and Christmas trees. Additionally, the Township will send staff out to collect any items that Blosenski misses. Please know that we have sent Blosenski an itemized list of addresses for every request we have received from you. We have also identified those households that are reporting repeated missed collections. The Township recognizes and shares your frustration with the situation and is committed to making things right and getting your curbs cleaned of any remaining debris. Please leave your items at the curb. For any items that are still at the curb on Wednesday afternoon, please contact solidwaste@westwhiteland.org. You will receive a timely response from our staff, and our Public Works team will collect any remaining items.
Looking at the bigger picture, staff regularly meets with leadership from other municipalities and is hearing similar issues with Blosenski's service. Our commitment is first to our residents, and we are working collaboratively with these other municipalities to find a plan that will improve your collection service moving forward. As a reminder, our contract with Blosenski expires in 2025. Staff will be actively pursuing options for a reliable, cost-effective service at that time.
