West Whiteland was awarded a $106,000 grant through the PA Commonwealth Financing Authority for upgrades to the Township's sewer pump stations. The grant will fund new gas detection and alarm notification systems at all 5 pump stations, as well as a new wet well ventilation system at the Grubbs Mill pump station, to provide a safer environment for employees and allow for quicker response times to system events that may arise.
West Whiteland was awarded a $223,000 grant through the PA Department of Environmental Protection, funded by the $12 million penalty assessed to Sunoco for violations related to the Mariner East 2 pipeline project. The grant will fund improvements to stormwater basins in Swedesford Chase. By replacing existing concrete channels with reinforced grass-lined channels, these modifications will reduce the amount of sediment and the rate of the water getting downstream to Valley Creek around Meadowbrook Manor.
