With 28 days until the first day of spring, winter isn’t finished with us yet in West Whiteland Township.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect as a coastal storm is expected to impact Exton beginning Sunday around 6 a.m. through Monday evening, bringing the potential for snow and wintry precipitation.
Throughout the next few months, please remember that Township ordinances require proper snow removal and adherence to special parking guidelines, including but not limited to the following key points:
Keep Roadways Clear
- Remove obstacles such as basketball nets from the roadway.
- Place trash and recycling bins between the curb and sidewalk — not in the street.
Parking During Snow Events
- Please park in your driveways — not on streets or in cul-de-sacs — from two hours after the start of a continuous snowfall until the snow has been completely plowed.
- While cars should not be parked in cul-de-sacs during significant snowfall, it is especially difficult for plows to clear snow when vehicles are parked perpendicular to the curb. For best results, please keep all neighborhood streets clear of cars.
Snow & Sidewalk Responsibilities
- Property owners, tenants, and businesses are responsible for clearing snow from the sidewalk adjacent to their property, as well as clearing snow around any fire hydrant located on their property, within 24 hours of the snow event.
- Snow and ice may not be placed into public streets, gutters, or sewer inlets.
- Do not pile snow around fire hydrants or to a height that limits sight distance for vehicles.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our roads safe and passable during winter weather events.
