One of the two northbound lanes on U.S. 202 approaching the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass interchange, along with the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202, is scheduled to close in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, from 10:00 PM Thursday, August 31, to 5:00 AM Friday, September 1, for bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work is part of the final phase of the U.S. 202 Section 300 improvement project, which includes the rehabilitation of two U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak rail lines.
During the overnight ramp closure, motorists will be detoured to the Business U.S. 30 exit, right on eastbound Business U.S. 30, and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
Prior to the closure, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, there will be lane restrictions on the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202.
Eastbound U.S. 30 motorists should expect backups and slow moving traffic when approaching the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
During the Thursday night northbound U.S. 202 lane closure, motorists will not have access to the exit ramp to U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue). The detour will direct northbound U.S. 202 motorists to continue to the Route 401 (Conestoga Road) Interchange and turn right onto Route 401 (Conestoga Road) to reach U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue).
In addition, southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from three-lanes-to-one from 8:00 PM Monday, August 28, to 5:00 PM Tuesday, August 29, for barrier adjustments at the ramp to U.S.30/Exton Bypass.
