Inspections - Rental Properties

The Codes Administration Department conducts life safety inspections of rental properties within the Township to ensure the safety of the renters.

All owners of rental properties within West Whiteland Township must submit a rental registration form to the Codes office 10 days prior to re-occupancy by a new tenant unless exempt under section 250-11 (Multi unit Residential Property) of the rental ordinance.

Owners of multi-unit residential properties (more than 4 rental units) are required to submit rental registration forms for all new tenants and pay the required fees.

Rental Inspections

The Township must perform an inspection and issue a Certificate of Re-occupancy before new tenants may occupy a rental dwelling unit. 

Owners of multi-unit residential properties must schedule an annual inspection of not fewer than 25% of the dwelling units located on the multi-unit residential property.
