The Friends of the Park (FOP) was established in 1992 to develop a summer concert series for the enjoyment of the area residents.  The concerts have been an overwhelming success and attendance is over 7,000 per summer, including an annual Independence Day celebration with an extended concert as well as fireworks.  The FOP members help solicit sponsors for the concerts, as well as reviewing and selecting the performers.  The members also volunteer at the concerts handing out programs, etc.
