West Whiteland Township is a Second Class Township governed by a three-member Board of Supervisors.  The Supervisors are elected at large for staggered six year terms and at the annual reorganization meeting in January select a Chairman and Vice Chairman.  The Board is empowered to set policy, to enact legislative (ordinances), and to levy taxes.  It is also the Executive Board to administer the policy, codes, and taxes of the Township.

The Board of Supervisors set annual budgets and control the expenditure of funds.  The Board is responsible for the appointment of the Township Manager and volunteers to the various Boards and Commissions of the Township.  The Board also appoints professionals to provide legal and technical counsel.
