Tax FYIs and Announcements: Should you be filing quarterly Earned Income Tax returns?

Title

Should you be filing quarterly Earned Income Tax returns?

Body

If you do not have earned income tax withheld from your wages or are self employed, you are required to report and remit earned income tax quarterly to H.A. Berkheimer, the earned income tax collector. Penalty and interest will be assessed if you fail to file or fail to file in a timely manner. Residents of West Whiteland Township pay a 1% earned income tax; 0.5% going to the West Chester Area School District and 0.5% going to the Township.

The due dates for EIT filings are as follows:
  • 1st Quarter (January 1 through March 31) - due April 30
  • 2nd Quarter (April 1 through June 30) - due July 31
  • 3rd Quarter (July 1 through September 30) - due October 31
  • 4th Quarter (October 1 through December 31) - due January 31

If you have any questions concerning the filing of this tax return or concerning the quarterly filing requirement, please contact H. A. Berkheimer at 610-588-0965 or 866-701-7205. They will be happy to assist!
